I love Wife! Be Like a Rose! and like When a Woman Ascends the Stairs, Mother, and Late Chrysanthemums. I think going into Floating Clouds with the knowledge of it being his most acclaimed film gave me really high expectations and I was very disappointed.

    Hi, No, 'Wife! Be Like a Rose!' is not a silent. It was Naruse's third sound film. Like Zvelf, I too think very highly of it.
