About Me

twostills.tumblr.com

Wild women with veins slashed and wombs spread, singing songs of the death instinct in voices yet unheard, praising nothing but the promise of Death on earth, laughing seas of grinning red, red eyes, all washed ashore and devoured by hard and unseeing spiders.

Hi! In what way is The Master and Margarita related to Merde by Carax?? :) just wondering!

hello (: merde's attorney is called maître voland. in the master and margarita there is a prominent character called (professor) woland, also called messire, who is often interpreted as/who there is strong evidence for is the devil, as in The Devil. of course there are chances that voland is just called that and it's not related to woland, but seeing the outlandish appearance of both merde and voland and their strange language, as well as the supernatural tinge to the story - when merde is (supposed to be) executioned he just, poof, disappears - i just liked the idea of the devil coming to the defense of a wayward child/servant/protegée of his, and in that respect, the entire bearing of those two. i found it very much funny and endearing ... but that's not the question anymore.

Thank you for answering! I just saw the film yesterday and you're definetely right about the reference to Woland in Bulgakov's work. The Master and Margarita is one of my favorite books and he's depicted just as i've imagined him reading the book. You are right about it being a good idea to involve Bulgakov's devill in Merde's trial, i'm absolutely in awe of this little film. Amazing, and not difficult to imagine Merde being a part of the Woland gang, he might even be Azazello ;) Really like Carax' new works, Holy Motors is quite interesting as well. As for Master and Margarita, have you ever read anything like that before?? :)
