About Me

I just love movies for as long as I can remember. I don’t have a “rating system”, maybe because I don’t usually watch movies for which I expect to be cr*p (yes, I am full of prejudice :P) and because I rate them based on a feeling they evoke in me. Basically, the movies that I feel really emotional about are 4-5 stars rated, 3 stars are the ones that I wasn’t really inclined to watch, and for 1 and 2, I honestly doubt that I’ve ever rated any movie (or that I ever will) within that range, simply because I avoid movies I expect to be bad.
Difference between “good” and “bad” movies? Cinematography, as few of CGI effects as it is possible, well written plot or complete absence of plot, camera moves have to be meaningful, not hand-held and shaky just because it is modern or hip :P, distinct emotional sub-tone,etc…
My preference? Varies. From surrealism over trieresque to Joan Crawford.

Bitter-moon

Bitter Moon

Even though I respect Polanski, while watching his movies sometimes I get the feeling that I'm actually watching Freudian manifestations of his erotic fantasies or frustrations. I regret watching Bitter Moon previous to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, it feels like a cheap 90's erotica remake of latter.
