One of the best Irish accents in noir cinema, this would make a fun double bill with The Lady from Shanghai, which featured one of the worst. A remarkable, emotionally gripping and beautiful film.
An "over the top black comedy", eh? If I'd watched it based on that description I'd have been a bit angry with the sales pitch. As it is, this film has stayed with me as a portrait of the dehumanised world people are forced to live in under any sort of dictatorship, whether Communist or Fascist. Recommended for those with very strong stomachs.
