About Me

Intermedio is a Spanish DVD label created in 2004 by Didac Aparicio to publish some of the works by modern and contemporary filmmakers such as Bresson, Rivette, Pialat, Rohmer, Godard, Straub-Huillet, Marker, Rouch, Hong Sang-Soo, Jia Zhangke, Tsai Ming-liang, Lacuesta, Serra, Alonso…
In our catalogue you will find the only world edition of the Godard-Gorin Groupe Dziga Vertov’s films, or the videocatalogue of the filmic “Correspondence(s)” exhibition held at Barcelona CCCB and Paris Pompidou. Now we’re working on Pere Portabella’s “Complete Film Works” and in a 2 DVD-box of some of Chris Marker’s short films. www.intermedio.net

Hey :) I was wondering if you had any confirmed information for the Portabella set? Do you have any ideas what will be included in the boxset, and a date? Thanks

No problem, I understand as I've seen El Cant and Honour, and I think you are exactly right about not needing to understand the dialogue to enjoy his films. The DVD version that you released also appears to be the only one released, so I'll try to add it to my next order from Spain. Thanks for the information. It is a shame that current Spanish cinema doesn't seem to get much distribution outside of Spain, but in the UK we did get a DVD release of Honour of the Knights by Soda. Oh and I watched Mudanza by Portabella the other night, and it made me excited for your upcoming boxset.

It's a very nice film Mudanza, certainly. I'm sure it would have pleased (and make him laugh) the great Federico G. Lorca. You can see it as the reverse of a poem by him, bringing the figure of Lorca (even the historic figure) closer to the kind of surreal imagination he experienced for some of his books. As Portabella was lately producer of Buñuel (for Viridiana) this films repairs somehow, in an imaginary order at least, the ancient confrontation Lorca / Buñuel-Dalí. That's one of the things I love most about the film, which is also very beautiful per se. Thanks for your interest and your words, Deep-Immersion!

Hi again :) I was wondering if you could please tell me how much of the Waiting for Sancho film is not in English? I see it is a multi language film, and I've heard that your disc doesn't have English subtitles for the non English dialogue? Thanks a lot!

Hi, how are you! It really has a lot of dialogue in Spanish and Catalan, without other subtitles than Spanish for the Catalan parts... Anyway it's an American film, so for example the interviews with Serra are in English. I don't know exactly what to tell you... As for Serra's films, there's a lot of things you can enjoy even without knowing Spanish or Catalan, because "Waiting for Sancho" is mostly El cant dels ocells' making-of... But this is always a delicate thing,.. I hope this helps you a little, thanks!
