It’s my favorite Terminator film, but I love the Cameron films as well; the fourth film, by McG, I only consider it ok. There are a number of reason for my loving of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. First it is the direction of Jonathan Mostow, very classical filmmaking, and its tight editing; I actually find the action scenes impressive in many ways. The cyborg fights and car chases in T3 remind me of the Coyote and the Roadrunner cartoons, for its humor touches and clever set-pieces. Arnold and especially Kristanna Loken (her performance resembles that of a mime) are great, and also how it is established the relationship between John Connor and Kate Brewster, I find it moving (as it was the friendship between the boy and the terminator in T2). The philosophy of the central characters is compelling, as it is the desperation at some parts. I love the cemetery scene, and what they find in Sarah´s niche. And finally, the end is truely poetic, and very rare for a blockbuster. By the way, great avatar :)
Wow! Truly great insights there! I'll definitely be checking the film out. It's been ages since I saw T3. You should consider leaving comments on the films that you like. :)
Not that it'll add to the discussion, but just for the record, editing on T3 was made by the son of Andre De Toth. I like that film very much, too.
