the shining
jaws

Honorable Mentions:

john cassavetes
i also enjoy the works of
federico fellini, akira kurosawa, woody allen, terrence malick, billy wilder, francois truffaut, werner herzog, the coen brothers, wong kar wai, jean-pierre melville, steven spielberg, jim jarmusch. yet there are a bevy of filmmakers whose work i have yet to discover.
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
The King of Comedy
Mean Streets
After Hours
No Direction Home
The Departed (has so many plotholes you could drive a fat man through them, but still entertaining as all hell.)
I capitalized on the Criterion deal at Barnes and Noble and bought Cries and Whispers, Au hasard Balthazar, and Ali: Fear Eats the Soul. I also bought Persona.
I find it absurd, that a thread concerning an innocent observation, would swell up and expand to three pages. Well, now, thanks to my contribution; four.
The experience can only be summed up in three succinct words……Holy Fucking Shit. If you ever have the opportunity to see this on the big screen, I strongly suggest you seize it.
Why I Love Jim Jarmusch over 3 years ago
you’re a man after my own heart. jarmusch and his unconventional, minimalistic films rock my world.
