"Might be Jean Rollin's worst film"...as much as I love the man's work, that is saying something. He definitely has some clunkers in his filmography. Schoolgirl Hitchhikers is the worst offender I've seen yet but I've never heard anything good about Zombie Lake either.

I have a copy of the upcoming Kino blu-ray of SCHOOLGIRL HITCHHIKERS that I will be reviewing soon. There's a good possibility it will top ZOMBIE LAKE. There's just nothing going on. I guess he tries to infuse it with some thematic depth, but the whole "zombie with a heart of gold" thing just doesn't work. Zombies aren't sexy, and what he can do with vampires just doesn't translate.
