Hoping Where the Wild Things Are, Inglourious Basterds, and The Tree of Life will be there so we can hear some early reviews.
I also can’t wait to hear more about Public Enemies but I am not sure it will be there, maybe Toronto instead.
With only seeing the trailers, I don’t care for Mann’s video look of Public Enemies – looks like a Discovery Channel re-enactment special. But in Collateral the digital worked very well, maybe it is just that many of use are trained not to expect such a “clean” look for period-pieces. I hope I am proven wrong come July 1st, but I am still looking forward to this film.
Che looked absolutely brilliant especially in the jungle scenes. I like how Soderbergh is playing with the RED, TGE also looked good to me.
Fincher is probably my favorite director who uses HD Digital cameras, he knows how to use very well, Zodiac and Ben Button looked stunning with the Viper (also thanks to Claudio and Harris and their great jobs.
My ticket to The Wrestler last year at NFF was excactly $20 (plus 1.50 fee). I bought the ticket on 9/8, so sometime in the first week of Sept is when they should be on sale. As mentioned above, keep checking the website.
1. Inglourious Basterds
2. The House of the Devil
3. Star Trek
4. District 9
5. Moon
6. Sin Nombre
7. In The Loop
8. Drag Me To Hell
9. Watchmen
10. Revanche
Observe and Report, Black Dynamite, Coraline 3D, Hunger, Informat!, Zombieland are also up there for me.
There is still a lot to see, so this list will change for sure in the next 1.5 months.
So the Film Forum in NYC is showing Criterion Collection release of a new 35mm print for 1 week in April. Did Criterion always have rights to this movie, or maybe is it a new print they made (or maybe working with MoC?). Does this mean they have rights (if they didn’t before) and they will be releasing it on DVD/Blu soon? Just got the MoC Blu, but a Criterion edition would be great.
So with Universal releasing a Dazed and Confused Blu-ray soon, I guess Criterion doesn’t have the rights to re-release a Blu edition? I really want their edition in Blu.
Picked up 6 Blus from B&N today. I was able to stack the different member 25% off coupons on top of the 50% and my 10% off membership discount. The cashier was first hesitant to let me use all the coupons but I told him they all had different codes so where all different and I got them from their site/emails.
final prices on each Blu (plus tax, using 4 25% off and 1 10% off coupons)
Charade – 13.50
Black Narcissus – 13.50
Kagemusha – 16.20
Paths of Glory – 13.50
The Last Emperor – 13.50
Jimi Plays at Monterey & Shake Otis – 13.50
After all said and done final price was $90… amazing deal!

This looks great… I saw an extended look at NYCC this year and it was funny. I love Danny McBride as well, but I love how David mixes up his style this should be a great time in theaters.
Couldnt help myself… had to order Night of the Hunter since my store didnt have the Blu. but On top of the 6 titles I bought last Friday today I bought Breathless (blu), 8 1/2 (blu), and Sam Fuller Eclipse series… with the 10% member discount and the extra 15% coupon, with tax it was 51…
What films do you always catch shit for for not liking? over 3 years ago
Brokeback Mountain
Definitely think Scarface and other De Palma films are overrated.
I am also not 100% on the Departed bandwagon, good movie, nothing more, I like the original better.

Well I think 2001 is a classic and it is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is stunning, thought provoking and brilliant.
I am a child of the MTV-era and even work for MTV Networks, so don’t blame MTV…

Mad Men is a good show, but I think the best show on TV is Breaking Bad, followed by 30 Rock and LOST.
