Finally saw SHUTTER ISLAND was completely disappointed. Not even Michelle Williams could redeem this one. And that story. Yuck! Note to filmmakers: I am only going to be willing to dwell on such icky topics if there is some kind of payoff in the story -- and this had nothing! If anyone out there has a defense of this film they want to lay on me, I will be all ears.

I keep thinking about WINTER'S BONE and realize that what makes it so good is the fact that for Ree and her family, the stakes could not be higher. If they lose their house and woods, they lose everything.
