johell, sorry for the very late reply, i didn't get a notification for your reply (maybe you can post on my wall, so i know if you've replied my post). i agree about shutter island. it reminds me of classic horror films. unfortunately, i don't own that pinku box set (the one with Reiko Oshida on it's cover, right?). i heard that it also contains music CD. ah, it really makes me wonder. those girls were really good singers too. anyway, about Sugimoto, i gogled her photos, and i found a photo of her singing (maybe for her film), naked in the studio. damn. that woman was a real sexploitation actress :P

I think I lost my admiration for Scorsese work since CASINO in 1995. After this film, I didn't appreciate a lot any of his films. I can still sense his great cinematic style but the stories were not that interesting... more like the stuff for the members of the Academy Awards. And the movies were way too long. Exhausting! GANGS OF NEW YORK was quite impressive, but I can't say that I've liked it. With SHUTTER ISLAND, it's a wonderful B movie with amazing camera work and fabulous performances. One of the best films I've seen this year. I think I agree with you concerning Sugimoto. She's cool and I love her face and she got a great body too! :) I also like the other pinku girls, but they never match the incredible style of Sugimoto. Meiko Kaji is also one of my favorite japanese actresses. Ever. I just love her films. Too bad there is only one STRAY CAT ROCK on DVD. I want to see the other ones. And do you own the Pinky Violence boxset in DVD (Zone 1)? Incredible stuff (with a CD where Ike sings! Love it!). I wish they release more films like that!

i love shutter island too. the aviator and the departed are my favorites among scorsese's late film. i found that they were very entertaining. Sugimoto is my favorite toei pinku girl. compared to meko kaji, reiko ike and reiko oshida, sugimoto was the coolest. i submitted some of her films. now, i can't wait for her page as a cast member :)

I like Scorsese films, but these last few years he disappointed me. His magic filmaking didn't work so well on me. But he's back in top form with SHUTTER ISLAND. I love this movie. About Sugimoto, she's a great actress. I've enjoyed her pinky violence films. I think they're fabulous movies and they entirely deserve a place in the mubi kingdom! :)
