based on the reviews i didn't expect much from this one. i was pleasantly surpised with the acting and the story was intriguing as well..one of deniro's best roles of late...
liked rogen and silverman in this one. i found it to be quite somber in tone (blue valentine II??)........
my favorite episode: the snow woman.......
my fourth sirk film and now i know what to look for that pleases me. the bold colors, the long shots, the images in the mirrors. malone definitely stands out with her wondeful performance............
chilling lead casting: shannon is icy good....
an entertaining and surprising combo: welles irish brogue and hayworth's blond coiffeur, plus some nice twists thrown in for good measure.....
beautiful to look at and i loved the social class commentary angle.....
one of the best horror thrillers i have seen in awhile. belén rueda's performance was exceptional....
enjoyed this bio pic of the artist and his long suffering wife. plus i have developed a keen interest in the porter songbook.
the cast is fine and there are definitely some noteworthy moments here. however i was expecting a bit more...."something missing?" but this still rates as a better than average gumshoe tale.....
well acted and beautifully filmed story of an independent woman and her admirers...
my latest obsession: to see more sirk! thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful and strangely captivating film.
slow, repetitious, minimalistic..... yet strangely intriguing. too bad the ending failed to deliver a much needed crescendo.
very gripping, a fantastic film from mr. lumet....
saw this waaaaay back in the day.. would like to watch it again.
the movie that kick started hitchcock's career......
bacon is outstanding in his portrayal of a man fighting his demons...
a great movie. loved brando and em saint. and of course the backseat scene, terry's famous words and the look of resignation on charley's face... priceless.
loved the interplay between waits and farrell during the former's "interview"...
pretty darn good, at least 2/3 of it. but the ending left me a bit dissapointed. not sure what i expected perhaps the joke that premise that propelled this film had run out of gas...........
so sad to see gibreel's loss of innocence.....
phoenix is intense and very good however it is hard to feel anything for his character, or for this rather bizarre film......
jam packed with memorable scenes like the umbrellas, the windmills and the water landing.
very solid acting from the established stars and the relative newcomers as well. the plot was quite believable and flowed smoothly and quickly and was punctuated by some unexpected turns. this film is not based on actual events. however, by the time the end credits started rolling, i definitely had the feeling i had experienced something that had actually occurred!!
daniel day-lewis was fantastic and well deserving of his oscar statuette
despite the fact that i am not a conspiracy advocate, this was still the most satisfying stone film I have seen.
away to nowhere.........
a very well done cat and mouse game. a dialogue driven thriller.
a fantastic murder mystery with some nice surprises.
a gripping "cops tale"....
