From what I can tell the African-scenes were mostly shot in Mozambique. Pity it's nowhere mentioned in the movie.

That's what I thought Mount Tabu didn't exist. I wasn't aware the country was supposed to be imaginary. License-plates were Mozambican, that's why I thought it was actually playing in hat area. Thanks for your explanation.
Where exactly in Mozambique is Mount Tabu? There is no Mount Tabu in Mozambique, don't believe everything you see in the movies. The film was shot in the north of the Zambezia province, near the border with Malawi. It is a mountain region dominated by the cultivation of tea. In the film, it's not even supposed to be Mozambique, it's an unnamed former Portuguese colony, an indeterminate historical territory reinvented for a film called Tabu.
This did not change my mind on the possible existence of a 'God'.

Felt the excitement tonight of watching a new Tarantino for the first time, and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it.
Hearing The House of The Rising Sun in this was a bit weird, didn't fit so well.
Unbelievable it took me until Xmas 2012 to watch this for the very first time.

My visit to an African hospital last year was more pleasant than any of the medical centres in this film.
