About Me

quasi-philosophy student, working at the moment in a bar specializing in unique beers. i spend my time reading philosophy, classical greek and latin epics and plays, shakespeare, tolstoy and dostoyevsky. i am interested in classics of film and literature, and it is my quest to watch the best films from the last century, and read the best literature from the last centuries. also i am a compulsive collector, so i naturally gravitated to the criterion collection. i also have an extreme, and separate dark side, which permeates my philosophy and interactions with society; from this comes my love for exploitation films. i collect itialian spaghetti westerns, horror, and crime; also blaxploitation…i’m bipolar…its either a great well done important film, or sleazy exploitation. i love both sides. with books im mainly just trying to get trough the world classics. im reading the birth of tragedy by nietzsche and resurrection by leo tolstoy right now. i usually like to be reading one philosophy and one fiction, and some poetry on the side. i want to read all of tolstoy, and dostoyevsky. ulysses by james joyce is next on my list. as u can see, my life consists of consuming art to escape the reality of the world; without art i don’t know if i would consider life worth living. as long as i can become lost in art unrestricted, i dont mind living a lower class lifestyle, without making much money; although id love to have money to fuel my criterion collection, and cult italian obsession (the lists go on and on…), it is not a driving force in my everyday activity. i most identify with the philosophy of arthur schopenhauer and his views on art, and denial of the will, although i am also kind of two sided in this respect also, in that i secretly get off on the poetry of whitman and the thought of nietzsche, which are much more positive and energetic and life affirming than the life denying philosophy of schopenhauer. if i go back to school i might think about going back for film studies, or perhaps finish up my philosophy degree, although i enjoy pursuing it on my own, i dont give much credence to labels or papers…id rather follow my own path than a syllabus and a time table, and a deadline for turning in thoughts on potentially unwanted subjects. id love to make a short film, or start writing a screenplay…but it is just a fantasy right now. that is all you really need to know about me
