Loved this film. Acting still matters, doesn't it? But it's also all the subtle nuances--the mixture of feelings captured by Rowlands' face: of betrayal, frustration, fragility... Sometimes the acting feels a bit over the top. But with the circumstances she faces--a husband who takes her for granted by bringing his buddies home for breakfast unannounced & expects her to feed them--no wonder.
Watched Raoul Peck's Lumumba: death of a Prophet which he made several years before he made the feature film about Lumumba. PEck narrates and it's rich to see how he weaves his personal family history in with Lumumba's.
