Very underrated Kiarostami! I like it even better than Rossellini Viaggio in Italia, the dialogs are great.
Pessimistic carpe diem
Basura casposa
Bye capitalism, hello caos.
Main character represents the hypocrisy of almost all human beings, much more shallow than we like to say.
"I don't care a damn about racial, religious, moral, economic or politic problems. Eating meat disturbs me, can you imagine raising those poor little chicken and lamb to fill our tummy, there's a problem and nobody cares (..) we quit all the wool to the lamb and then we eat it what is this all holy hypocrisy they are hand us? you know what i think? i think we were all created evil, then some wise guy, some left-wing or a labor unionist comes to us saying we were all created good (..)"
Very funny even for the movie fans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR0lgkznQv4
Where can i watch this?
How could the horse not be almost dead after going from Italy to Hungary..
More interested in the atmosphere and the way of life than the plot itself, love the opening and when i thought the end was going to be predictable or mediocre i find that was pretty good, plus, John Surman music is incredible.
The moments of happiness of life are the little things and the moments in when we expect something great may happen (projects, relationships, work, studies etc..), it's not a pessimistic thought that things will normally not be as we ideally expected, it's the reality, but we need to keep expecting those moments to feel alive.
'America’s not a country, it’s a business. Now fucking pay me'
Does someone know where i can watch this?
I like when he wants to get arrested. QUEEN ELIZABETH IS A MAN PRINCE CHARLES IS A FAGGOT FUCK CUNT SHIT FUCK
Nice compilation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=civAQaptMko
'I also want a happy ending, but i don't know how to write it..'
Love as adults is utopia, so let's laugh at it. One of the most underrated Polanski films.
Big Lebowski is so great because of the characters, the plot doesn't matter at all, in this one only McDormand, Malkovich and especially Pitt characters are good enough to make the movie a good comedy. 3.5 / 5.
Hitchcock tells in his interview with Truffaut all the weird things that happened making this film, that would be a nice movie itself: you have comedy, drama and suspense!
Happy to see Kiarostami best film in the S&S top50. What i like is that makes you feel like a hypocrite and doesn't need to judge you, the important thing of all is the idea, the thought of the importance of power, fame, respect in today's society. Like someone said 'Laugh, and the world will laugh with you, cry and you will cry alone.'
Waaaaaay more disturbing than any of those stupid American or Italian slashers, and doesn't even need a lot of violence to accomplish it. Dr. ends up doing mistakes, but because he is human, as much as he hates them.
Awesome editing
The greatest achievement in the history of cinema.
It may be one of the smallest films by Visconti, humble movie with all neorealism elements, but its probably the Visconti film which i connected myself better with, the eternal mamma proving dignity and love for her daughter, touching.
Any recommendation for a first contact with his works?
Subtle, sensitive, touching and visually beautiful. WKW does in 7 minutes what others can't in 100 minutes.
Like Buñuel said, the best film that has ever been made about postmodernism and all related to it. ________ How odd, i just realized Roman Polanski appears in this film! just 10 or 12 seconds but he is there.
