What's the point of watching a film? over 2 years ago

“Our taverns and our metropolitan streets, our offices and furnished rooms, our railroad stations and our factories appeared to have us locked up hopelessly. Then came the film and burst this prison-world asunder by the dynamite of the tenth of a second, so that now, in the midst of its far-flung ruins and debris, we calmly and adventurously go traveling.”
Walter Benjamin ‘The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction’

I’m most looking forward to Gaspar Noé’s new film Enter the Void, but I’m hoping that they have Antichrist and The White Ribbon. I also saw A Prophet in Cannes which is great! I’m also curious about Herzog’s new film

Which films are playing at independent cinemas near you? over 2 years ago

I think everyone knows that Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds is coming out this weekend on over 3,000 screens around the country, but which films are we missing that only got released in 1 or 2 cities? I saw The English Surgeon last weekend in SF (great documentary) and missed a two day theatrical release of Jim Jarmusch’s The Limits of Control

Which films are coming out this weekend at your local independent cinema?
