great execution, really loved it! I heard an American remake is in the pipeline
Final resolution could have been a lot better, still loved it though. Then again I'm Sono-sensei's fan.
Possibly my all-time runner up for best noir ever! (1st being RIFIFI)
Excellent usage of McGuffin ;) Great direction and characters.
Great character study! A MIFF highlight!
Despite its shortcomings (Melbourne Love Actually it wasn't), It was a joy to see the locations I knew and love on film, and it was never looked so good!
Quite interesting, although in my opinion the antagonist wasn't depicted as darkly as he should've been, considering his motives and his obsession with the ultimate chess set ;)
The crime caper, the femme fatale and the romantic entanglements works. The singing didn't.
Very smartly, and funnily written. Loved the style of the animation too!
Very funny and interesting. One of my highlight from MIFF.
Informative, although it is a bit light on the subject matter.
Reminds me of Aki Kaurismaki's Proletariat Trilogy. Took those best bits of noir which I love so much.
A well-executed exercise in absurdity. Not everyone will find it funny, though.
Great execution in style and symbolism.
Really engaging for the first 1.5 part where the narrative moves at a breakneck pace, I can't quite place where it went wrong though.
I am a sucker for revenge flicks, especially when it was as enjoyable as this one! One of my MIFF favourite so far!
A little too thin on the subject matter, although it may be because I came in half expecting something in the vein of La Strada :-\
There was not enough interesting plot development to keep this film propelling forward, which is too bad because it had a lot of potential.
This was really something special!
Epic!!
October. http://amzn.to/c2qaAz
not quite an epic as the godfather, but definitely as epic as godfather part 2. a must watch!
definitely a poetry in motion.
