Worst Criterion DVDs over 3 years ago

Anything by Michael Bay or Kevin Smith or Wes Anderson. Most recent american films by criterion SUCK!
There are more good films than bad ones in criterion, but sometimes i have to wonder what the hell are they thinking
with this garbage, when there are many films that need to be brought to life.

Herzog, Welles, and Bergman on Godard over 3 years ago

I agree with Bergman, Welles and Herzog. Godard made some good films and i own a few of his best but he is no where near the level
of Welles or Bergman Period!

I guess i can relate more to Bergman as we love the same directors, Tarkovsky and Fellini

Bergman also was fortunate to have a great stock company of actors, or maybe he just made them great. I have never seen any of his stock actors in a great movie that was not directed by Bergman

THOUGHTS ON LENI RIEFENSTAHL over 3 years ago

Probably the greatest Documentary filmaker ever! I dont care much for her “Mountain” films but Triumph of the will and Olympia are two of the greatest Documentaries ever.
Soybean: No she was not forced, she was asked to do the propaganda films and in her own words “wanted to do the best job she possibly could” however i completely believe she was ignorant of what she was creating. She won awards for both Triumph of the will and Olympia. She could have refused without danger but she loved film as we all do.

THOUGHTS ON LENI RIEFENSTAHL over 3 years ago

RICH UNCLE SKELETON
I have watched the movies many times thats why i know they are great. As far as Riefenstahl, do you really think she was aware of what was going to happen? NO WAY! The German people did not know, that is fact. I personally like the German Romanticism from the 19th century and the link to ancient Greece and Rome but i do not want to go out and start concentration camps. Thats why i feel she was just a pawn for the third reich like everyone else was. People in general do not want war and death. They have to be manipulated by religion or something else. As far as Lang i do not believe he knew either, he just did not want people to tell him how to make his movies, and he was very liberal and Riefenstahl was not. Many times filmakers do not realize what they are creating. Eisenstein created propaganda films for the USSR and nobody really talks about those.

Dont take my word for it, read any film book and you will see that Triumph Of The Will and Olympia is rated much higher than any
documentary Herzog has ever done. Uncle Rich are you saying Riefenstahl was not talented?

THOUGHTS ON LENI RIEFENSTAHL over 3 years ago

I have seen The Wonderful Horrible Life Of Leni Riefenstahl. And you cant compare her films with Abercrombie and fitch or feltch as i like to call it. I love Herzogs Aguirre the wrath of god, and he has a few other films that are good Stroszek, Fitzcaraldo, but nothing as good as Olympia or Triumph Of The Will. Her later stuff is not very good. And i agree we should watch the films and judge for ourselves. I have watched and judged two masterpieces. Im not bashing on Herzog at all, its not like he is Michael Bay or something, Riefenstahls docs are just better for me, and if anyone doesnt like that you know what you can suck!
btw Abercrombie and fitch is for Homosexuals!
