Powerful movie, very well directed, and superbly acted. Too long if watched back to back but just right for a three-episode installment. Assayas did an excellent job with the arch of the characters. The OPEC assault sequence is memorable. Highly recommended!
A nice, little charming movie. The story of a gentle giant who works as a security guard at a supermarket and falls in love with the janitor lady. He is so shy that he won't talk to her but becomes his guardian angel. You can get this movie through the film movement series
There is a reason why Eastwood s one of the best directors around. His no-nonsense style and ability to get great performances from his peer actors make him a real gem. When Eastwood directs, I pay attention. Changeling is one of those movies I wish I had directed. Jollie's performance is remarkable. She is an amazing actress, underrated. This movie is a real jewel.
I loved this movie.Beautifully filmed and well done. The pacing is very good and Amalric's acting was very strong. Even though I knew the outcome, the ending left me wanting for more.
Funny movie. Much more enjoyable in the native language
If you had any doubts of Theron's acting chops, this will make you a convert.
Disappointing. Bubble is to film what the Honda Insight was to hybrid cars. An ugly intent to look cool. The performances by non-actors are honest and the filmmaking is well executed, but the story is nothing worth paying for at the movie theater (or rental). He's Soderbergh, hence, we should expect a lot more.
This movie was banned in Brazil due to the influence of one of the subjects more heavily criticized in the movie. Great documentary! You can see Errol Morris' influence (the director worked with him). Some parts of the movie feel like a narrative film. shot in 35mm for a more cinematic feel.
Wow, haunting cinematography and perfect pace.
Intimidating presence by Kingsley. Makes Ray Winstone look like a wimp
"Abre los ojos", the original movie starring Penelope Cruz, is much better.
Pleasantly surprised by the execution and the acting performances
I think Asia Argento is one of the most intriguing actors of our generation. I have been desperately trying to cast her on my next movie.
A pleasant surprise. John Cameron is a great director.
The ultimate coming-of-age, road movie
I think Oliver Stone screwed up this movie by giving it an MTV look and feel but I give it extra points because the original Tarantino script is mind blowing
Entertaining
A breakthrough film. Sci-Fi was never the same....
Greengrass is a great filmmaker but I hate his use of the camera. Why does he have to shake it so bad? It gave me motion sickness that lasted the entire week. I get it SHAKE = turmoil
Great filmmaker and strong storytelling but the production value is not there. I don't think lack of budget would be a reason not to up the ante.
I hated this movie. The execution is amazing but the plot is so annoying.
Kubrick waited years for the technology to become available before his vision for this movie could be fulfilled. Death caught him off guard before it could be realized. He still scores top points in my book.
Very moving. How can you not fall in love with the kid
Not Mamet's finest moment as a director. The plot and dialogue are superb but the acting is flat. If you read Mamet's book, On Directing Film, you may know why
Park Chan-wook is Asia's Stanely Kubrick. His compositions and storytelling are unforgettable. The hammer fight scene is a masterpiece of cinema. Is segment Cut in "Three Extremes" is a classic you can never forget
"Cuts his frames with a samurai sword"? That's the coolest description I've ever seen. You are so right. He has a formula he applies to every movie he makes, but it works wonders!
This is one of those movies that make you feel grateful about cinema. It evokes feelings of hope, despair and melancholy. Watch also "Faraway, So close" (In weiter Ferne, so nah!) to get the full experience!
One of my favorite directors of all time. I love his use of colors and the composition of every scene. there's something about chinese Auteurs that we all have something to learn about
An epic movie from a real genius. We all can learn something from this movie and from this director. A lesson in movie-making on every frame
This is a masterpiece of a movie. Bergman is one of the most talented directors in the history of cinema. The scene where von Sydown is seen from behind while he grieves her murdered daughter is one for the ages.
