The Ringwraiths ride dragons. What more do you want?
There's no place like home......
Not far off from Man On Fire, save for all of that violent revenge stuff...
Still absorbing this one... however I can say that the trailer for it is garbage. Don't let that convince you one way or another to see it. Some very decent performances here.
This is a brilliant film, yes. But really, it's brilliant.
Corporate America has been slowly killing people for years. At least Patrick Bateman is honest about it.
Get ready for the showdown of the century! Students vs. teacher in a steel cage deathmatch to the finish! It's not for everyone, that's for sure. But for those who don't mind slow paces character studies, you're sure to find some rewarding gems in this film.
It does the body good. For realz.
Not to be confused with the writings of Roger Hargreaves, as I'm pretty confident there wasn't a Little Miss Heroine Addict character in that series.
If you aren't in tears by the end of this film, send me a message. I want to congratulate you on not having a soul. No, but really, it plays the heart-strings like a skilled harp player.
Hitler has never been more radiant.
To say Volver is good is like saying Americans KIND OF like pizza.
It's definitely shy of brilliant, but definitely quality. I particularly liked the choices Siegel made in the script, but his directing felt typically indie.. nothing special there.
This film, unfortunately, didn't have much of an impact on me while I was viewing it outside of its breathtaking landscapes and colors. Oddly though, it has lingered with me for quite some time. I can't get it out of my head.
I love going into films having no preconceived notions or rumors of its reputation. The only thing I knew going into this is what I've known of Kinksi and Herzog's working habits (or lack thereof.) I was absolutely floored by its documentary style and delicate shaping of human behavior. Kinski all at once terrifies me and intrigues me. Brilliant film.
Striking photography. Quite a few moments of palpable tension. Very engaging story. Not too shabby of a debut for Mr. Bergman.
Definitely Wes' most underrated film. I'm not quite sure how this one flew under the radar. It's absolutely beautiful to look at and the performances are all spot on. The pacing is a little slow, but I didn't mind it at all. One hour into the film and I felt like I had been watching it for two, but I never wanted it to end.
Sometimes I think Baumbach's "honesty" is really the complete opposite. Instead of being realistic, it's quite an extreme dramatization of character... but maybe that's just because I've never met people who speak like the characters in his movies. At any rate, his films are growing on me, and I hope to fully connect with this film upon my next viewing. Laura Linney = always amazing.
Here it is folks, the original flesh-eating-zombie film. This is such an profound portrait of the effects of war unlike anything else that has ever been told. I cannot recall a film that made me as thirsty as I was while watching this. Truly and bitterly effective.
This film had me weeping more than any other war film I've ever experienced. Such glorious storytelling and commentary on the personal and humanistic effects of war. It gives me shivers just remembering it.
Brilliantly tragic performances, wonderful storytelling, and searing intensity. It plays like a text book on creating suspense. Really can't wait to see how this one looks on Criterion Bluray.
