a must see film and i look forward to reading more thoughtful analysists on it
THis is a story that needed to be told writ large. It is a compelling footnote in history that affects us all and puts into perspective the actions of the American government in times of crisis. The execution of the story however is only done moderately well. Many of the supporting actors lack gravitas, the direction was lacking...all in all its a mild disapointment but regardless of the aesthetics of the piece it is
Ive had a hard time accepting MArk Ruffalo as a serious actor. But he is great in this flick.
Put up a pic and Quote dicks
And Johnny Dangerously! C'mon man
CLEAN AND SOBER!!!!!! Apparently a forgotten movie...Keaton's Greatest Performance
I guess what really stood out for me in this movie were the images of the German army and their gnarly armor. The ice battle was great too but damn those German's were wicked looking. The weird love triangle...not so much
Any movie that name checks Jimmy Cagney cant be all bad
These coal miners fight against the all powerful greed and corruption of Corporate America makes A director's struggle to get a friggin boat over a mountain pale in comparison. This is a great doc. Should be watched by every man woman and child. Loved the old coal miner songs too
I've never seen someone age so much right before my eyes. It's a shame they rushed through the end of the films shoot, The boat finally making it over the mountain lacked the grandiose scene it deserved. I guess it was saved for the actual movie. Best part had to be the 2nd boat floating down the dangerous rapids and slamming into the cliffs. Then Herzog criticizes Kinski for running for cover. Great stuff.
"Now if anyone else gets off base with me...I'ma tag 'em out!" What an asshole Great doc tho.
WOW! Never drink laced coffee from a sociopath. European movie dialouge is so much more lyrical, I love it. Cant belive this was turned into that p.o.s. Keifer Sutherland movie. Not anywhere near the same aesthetically or storywise really. Wow! great movie.
Great Movie! Acting was brillant. The story revolving around Ogata's relationship w/ the Inn keeper was the high point. Ogata's character was a classic Sociopath with no clear motives why he kills except to just push his criminal behavior to the extreme and perpatrate his fantasy of murdering his father (another great acting performance) Great Japanese cinama
