About Me

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY UPDATED TO Spring 2012:
Domiziano Arcangeli began his career as an International Model, at 13, turned to acting shortly thereafter and today is a successful film producer, as well., Domiziano Arcangeli has never stopped working. The son of an Italian industrialist and an American socialite, Arcangeli was born in Venice, raised living next door, on the Grand Canal, to Peggy Guggenheim, and was so introduced to the fine arts and refined culture at an early age.
Domi(as friends sometime call him) was “discovered,” at age 12 by the famous photographer, Helmut Newton, ,in Venice, and was eventually asked to Fly to Berlin for a series of very controversial Photo Shoots from the Famed Art and High Fashion Photographer. Some of those pictures made the covers of several major publications worldwide, imposing the young new face to the interest of major European directors. His modeling career continued throughout the 80’s, and, Arcangeli was soon called to the famous Cinecitta Studios in Rome, where he was screen tested by 2 major international Directors: Federico Fellini, and Michelangelo Antonioni, who actually directed Arcangeli’s real first screen test.
Domiziano has done extensive work throughout the years with masters like Fellini. Arcangeli appeared in Fellini’s Academy Award wining film, “Intervisa,” back in the late 80’s, when he was still a young teenager. Domiziano worked and trained extensively as an actor. He appeared in very famous plays all over the world, then following up the success of Fellini’s film, he had a small but key role in 20th Century Fox’s “The Name of the Rose” co-starring opposite Sean Connery and Christian Slater, and later in Sony Classics’ "St. Francis of Assisi, " starring with Mickey Rourke and Helena Bonham Carter, and directed by another film Legend, Liliana Cavani (“The Night Porter").
Arcangeli then began working in cult and genre Films, with great European directors of the time including: :Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Sergio Martino, Joe D’Amato, Stelvio Massi, Aldo Lado, Antonio Margheriti (aka Anthony Dawson),Bruno Mattei (aka Vincent Dawn),Giuseppe Vari, Ruggero Deodato,Giulio Questi, Lamberto Bava, Andrea Bianchi and many more,
Arcangeli is also known for starring in a couple of hits: Tinto Brass’(“ Caligula”)“Paprika”(1991),and in Giuseppe Schito’s “The Boy from Ebalus,” which Won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 1985. Playing opposite Star Therese Ann Savoy, he defined a new type of character; a troubled, restless, lonely, and desperate youth. Domiziano also played, the almost morbid, carefree protagonist in another pretty remarkable feature called “Pygmalion 88”, shot opposite Italian star, Franco Nero.
Domi went on to work with famed directors like Jess Franco, Jean Rollin, Claude Chabrol, Franco Brusati, Giuseppe Patroni-Griffi, John Frankenheimer, Eloy De la Yglesia, in movies that were shot and seen all over the world.
An American citizen, Arcangeli moved to the States at the turn of the century. Upon his arrival, he booked a leading role on the Showtime’ television series, “Zalman King’s Chromium Blue,” which aired for 2 years. He continued his success on American television appearing on NBC’s “The Restaurant,” WB’s “Mutant X”, E-Entertainment’s, "Hugh Hefner’s: The Girls Next Door, "MTV’s “Switch Trip” , USA Network’s mini series “Devil’s Highway” (opposite Dennis Hopper), and HBO’s film ’Sin’s Kitchen’ playing the twisted Carlton ,opposite Jeffrey Wright. This was the beginning of new transition into the more recent image of the actor: The Villain. Domiziano was next seen as an evil and tormented antagonist, in the edgy martial arts hit, “Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf” with Amanda Plummer, and some of the most well known Japanese talent. In this film Arcangeli showed a new ‘rugged/manly’ look. He also got to show some great combat’s skills! Samurai Avenger, directed by Kurando Mitsutake, went on to win several awards worldwide in various film festivals, and has now become a part of the Grindhouse Blue Ray Classic’s Collection!
Arcangeli played the Demon of the Apocalypse on TNT’s mini-series “Unlocking Ancient Secrets of the Bible,” and had a moving role as a junkie in Lions gate’s comedy “Still Waiting,” with Justin Long. Domi also had a very memorable cameo in Sasha Baron Cohen’s Universal release, "BRUNO. He’s also been seen on Spike TV’s 5th& 6th Seasons of the hit show “1000 Ways to Die.”
In 2008, Domi founded his own production company, “Empire Films”(www.EmpireFilms.net). Empire Films has produced and released a slew of science fiction and horror films including “Orgy of Blood,” (distributed internationally by Shoreline Entertainment), Virus X (released by Lions Gate), and the award winning cult film, “House of Flesh Mannequins.” Domiziano won BEST ACTOR Awards at the TENEBRIA FILM FESTIVAL in Italy and at festivals in Hamburg, Germany, and Sidney Australia, for his turn, as a former molested child, who descends to the world of snuff filmmaking. Empire’s upcoming films include “Lizzie,” (with Gary Busey, Corbin Bernsen,Jay Swayze), auteur director Mauro Borelli’s “The Ghostmaker” to be released in the Fall theatrically by Lions Gate and all over the World, and also, the Horror/Vampire/Erotica Gem, “The Brides of Sodom”(due out Internationally in the Fall of 2012,through Media Blasters) a gothic, yet controversial homage to Domi’s previous work in 1980’s horror & genre movies. It also co-stars some of the hottest porn stars, making their mainstream debuts. Of course, this was a controversial choice, but it is consistent with the visual aesthetic of the film.
Although Domiziano Arcangeli is a relentless producer, he is a tireless actor with seemingly endless amounts of energy. He got to play Dr. Victor Frankenstein in the upcoming, campy ‘Frankenstein Rising,’ which features Academy Award winner Margaret O’Brien and the late Anita Paige , in her last role. “Frankenstein Rising was directed by Eric Swelstad. Just to prove his extreme versatility, Domi’s even in an homage to the Spaghetti Western, in a film, getting great reviews, “The Scarlet Worm”(Opening on November 28th through Unearthed Films), where many famed cult actors, from the original 60’s/70’s Genre’s Originals, were reunited! The producers of this film specifically sought out Arcangeli because of his status as an Italian cult star. After playing a cowboy, Domiziano changed his look completely, as he now often does, to play a deeply unsettling role in the film, ‘Sister of Night,’ for IFC. “Sister of Night,” is a chilling portrait of the vicious and hopeless, underground Hollywood world, of drugs. He’s also in Sean Cain’s just released and highly praised zombie extravaganza “Silent Night, Zombie Night,” sharing the screen with genre veterans ,Vernon Wells, Felissa Rose, and Lew Temple. In Mike Emanuel’s (“Lucky’) upcoming film “Scary or Die” Domi changes his look yet again to star with ”High School Musical’s” ,Corbin Bleu, in a surreal, ,but haunting horror comedy. He also top lines the TLA Releasing’s horror “Addicted to Blood”, out last spring on DVD/Blue Ray. TLA has already signed the actor and the same producing team, for a follow up called, “Waiting for Dracula” in which, Arcangeli will be making his directorial debut! This Horror Comedy tells with irony a wild and modernized reinterpretation of the decadent lives of Dracula, Renfield and Van Helsing.
As an actor Arcangeli never gives up his search of more insightful and diverse roles,in order to show his versatility as an entertainer, but also his constant desire of facing challenges with a performance.
His next upcoming projects are an obvious evidence of his intents: he was cast as a complex man dealing with a self destructive relationship in the romantic drama, “Territory” from celebrated Sundance Best Director’s Award Winner, Everett Lewis. While, he’ll play the edgy and enigmatic Larry, in an international co-Production(US/UK/Italy) called “Wrath of the Crows,” a supernatural thriller where Arcangeli top lines an international all-stars cast, directed by one of Italy’s most upcoming directors: Ivan Zuccon (which will be released in the fall of 2012),and to name just a few others, he will be also seen as a sexy gangster, with a temper, ‘Chaka’, in the Second season of the ballyhooed, Cinemax’s TV Series, “Femme Fatales,” in mid 2012,when it will also appear as the main villain in yet another international co-production, an action thriller called “The Norwegian”.
Last but not least it’s been announced that the actor also just recently booked a pilot for a Fox Network new comedy Series.
Meanwhile, Arcangeli’s production company,Empire Films is now busy with several new projects: a new thriller, “Gotterdammerung”, co-producing, with TLA and Breaking Glass, Award winning filmmaker Matt Riddlehoover’s new,hip and bittersweet Romantic Comedy, “Scenes from a Gay Marriage” shooting in Nashville, TN; Jake Barsha’s acclaimed web series thriller, “The Funny Man” and a few new edgier and artistic independent film projects, to be announced, within the next few months! Now,Arcangeli is in pre-production with an extremely visual and ambitious drama called “Circus of Dread” to be directed by prestigious Australian author Mark Savage, and has just wrapped work on the psychological horror “Creep Creepersin’s Dracula” opposite Peter Stickles and Elina Madison, and, another wild genre comedy “The Vampires Club”, with a full cast. He is also to be seen in 2 TV movies, one to be airing on Comedy Central called “Meet the Moguls”(also in the official Competition of the Festival “Action on Films”), and another to be airing on HBO, a brilliant spoof of “Barbarella”, ironically titled “Alien Babes in Space”.
