All I can say is thank the gods for Venice and the intense Mauro Conte, they elevated an otherwise disappointing film.

It's a bad sign when you silently cheer when one of the main characters commits suicide. Very disappointing film, despite the eye candy.

It's unfortunate that his other films aren't included: Lost Song (08), Yellowknife(02) and my favourite, Full Blast (99), his extraordinary debut.

INCENDIES is nothing short of astonishing. It's Canada's submission for this year's Foreign Film Oscar.I'll be very surprised if it doesn't make the short list. Run, don't walk, to see this heart-wrenching film.

What an amazing film! It certainly deserves the 96% rating over at RT. A character driven thriller and doomed romance with neo-noir elements. The themes of guilt, revenge and forgiveness are dealt with intelligence and a quiet foreboding suspense that is absolutely riveting. The story is unpredictable and very affecting. It stayed with me for days afterward. Definitely a must see and a must have.

I was looking forward to this new film by Thomas (Festen) Vinterberg, but was mostly disappointed. I found this grim exercise almost embarrassingly cliche-ridden and predictable. Luckily actor Jakob Cedergren gives an amazing and layered performance that makes the film worth seeing. A international star is born.
