Persona.
Ozon’s Regarde le Mer short.
What about the creepily insane central character in Herz’s The Cremator
Is Eraserhead about madness, or did i just start to feel insane while watching it?
Camera Buff of course, also Kiarostami’s 10 and 5.
Most of Rivette is about making art and looking at art. I would say Paris nous Apartient and Celine et Julie vont en Batteau are particularly about making and watching films.
The last time I saw Jubilee, was in a fleapit in the Anomic ‘Eighties, but from memory, the movie was anarchic and spoke to the feelings of much of the youth in the late 70’s/early ‘80s – it’s Graham Greene’s destruction as an act of creation – plus – great music!
It is nowhere near Jarman’s best, but it is fun.
Harry – a friend of mine is a Chesty Morgan devotee (I’m guessing she wasn’t born with that name), and he gave me Double Agent and Diary of a nudist – they didn’t make it into my top ten!
Andrea Arnold’s Red Road is interesting and creepy and very British, and I forgot Mira Nair – her films are always interesting, particularly Salaam Bombay and Monsoon Wedding. More mainstream are the crowdpleasers of Gurinder Chada – Bend it like Beckham, What’s Cooking? etc

Steve McQueen’s Hunger even-handedly p*d off republicans and loyalists, and was one of the best films of last year to boot.
