Qué alivio hallar un foro en español (debo admitir que mi inglés es realmente limitado). Sí de algo sirve para la discusión, me gustaría compartir algunas de mis cintas latinoamericanas favoritas:
1-) Memorias del subdesarrollo (Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. Cuba, 1968) En mi humilde opinión, la mejor película que se ha hecho en Latinoamérica. La película muestra los cambios que se dan en la sociedad cubana con la llegada de la revolución, desde el punto de vista de un intelectual que decide quedarse en la isla para ser testigo de dichas transformaciones. La película, estructural y formalmente, se nutre de la ficción y el documental de una forma vigorosa y vanguardista.
2-) La Ciénaga (Lucrecia Martel. Argentina, 2001) probablemente uno de los retratos más originales sobre la clase media latinoamericana, y su decadencia inherente. Un film más descriptivo y atmósferico que narrativo, cargado de mucha tensión.
3.) Japón (Carlos Reygadas, México, 2002) Una de las óperas primas más alucinantes que he visto. Partiendo de una anécdota sencilla (Un pintor atormentado decide retirarse a un recóndito pueblo con el objeto de acabar con su vida), Reygadas da rienda suelta a un imaginario provocador e inédito en el cine latinoamericano, no exento de influencias europeas (Tarkovski, Bresson, Godard). sus escenas de sexo (al igual que en Batalla en el cielo y Stellet Licht) son inimitables.
4-) Y tú mamá también (Alfonso Cuarón, México, 2001) No hace falta describirla, probablemente todos ustedes la conocen. Sólo puedo decir que es una de las películas de adolescentes en tránsito a la madurez más honestas y vitales que he visto.
5-) Tony Manero (Pablo Larraín, Chile, 2008) Perturbador film acerca de la alienación y la impunidad encarnados en un hombre de cincuenta y tantos años obsesionado con la figura de Tony Manero, durante la dictadura de Pinochet.
