Thank you, Criterion team. This was a nice surprise to wake up to today. I eagerly look forward to experiencing this one in hi-def. Bring on the tech specs!

Final words:
Criterion deliver again! Truffaut’s timeless The 400 Blows looks and sounds spectacular! I am unsure what to say here that hasn’t already been said better by other film critics. So, I would simply like to encourage you to do whatever it takes to add The 400 Blows to your film collections. Simply put, they will be incomplete without it. Very Highly Recommended.
‘In Bruges’ was amazing. It’s a shame that Colin Farrell’s best acting is often seen by so few people. I bought the DVD for my friend, but I’m holding out for a Blu-ray release. It would be great if Criterion decided to give it such a treatment. “YOU’RE AN INANIMATE F***ING OBJECT!!!”
‘Let the Right One In’ is also a fantastic movie. It’s been sticking with me for days. I picked up the Blu-ray and watched all the special features immediately after finishing it. It has a seriously lacking supplements package (but what little it includes is quality stuff). Criterion should definitely remedy that.
Wow. Lots of ‘In Bruges’ fans here! I should have known the love for one of my favorite 2008 films would be shared by so many Criterion fans!
Oh, and to bring up ‘Let the Right One In’ again, maybe Criterion can get the English subtitles right if they do decide to release it:

EDIT: Sorry, Marissa. I skipped over your post before replying.
I have much faith that Criterion is doing everything in their power to get the rights to release this on Blu-ray (and get the DVD back in print). I’m just keeping my fingers crossed until there is official word from Criterion themselves promising that they either will or will not do so.
Anyone care to share pictures of the new cases? I’m very curious to see what they ended up with.
“I really like the new clear plastic cases that have been used for The Wages of Fear and In the Realm of the Senses, but I wish there were an option for those of us who purchased the earlier cardboard editions to get new packaging for the earlier titles.”
Agreed. Consistency is a pretty big deal to me. I appreciated the cardboard cases, but not now that they were so quickly discontinued. Will Criterion be reissuing current Blu-rays in the new plastic cases?
I love this thread. I’m gonna go grab some DVDs and capture some of my favorite frames. (For the purpose of this thread, I really wish I had a Blu-ray disc drive on my PC.)
Add me to the list of people who saw this thread, got really excited and inspired and wanted to participate, and then remembered: “Oh, wait. I suck at Photoshop.” :(

Blu-ray.com has posted their (rather early) review of The 400 Blows. It seems to have blown away the reviewer!

Probably not, Brandon. I guess it depends on if you think it’s worth the upgrade. Many people are perfectly happy with upconverting their DVDs.

Hmm, I was expecting the plastic to be blue! They look pretty nice, though. Thank you, Brandon.
