Brazil, please :)
We will try to make this available in Europe.
We are working on LAST NIGHT AT THE ALAMO...promise
I've had to watch it online, and I believe the picture quality lessened its impact. Eagle's films look their best on DVD or, dare I say it... Blu-ray?
CB - try Eagle's THE WHOLE SHOOTIN' MATCH on Mubi <http://mubi.com/films/22448>
Watchmaker Films is distributing EGGSHELLS. We are getting ready to launch the film and it will be on Mubi later this year. Blu-ray and DVD will follow in the early part of 2011. I will ask the Mubi team if they might like to start with Tobe's short film, THE HEISTERS and if so we can post that very soon.
By the way - this film is available in all the territories where Mubi is on-line.
Welshy - Try watching our documentary about Eagle, THE KING OF TEXAS, also available on Mubi. And pass the word. I hope that film will open up the film in the way you suggest.
James Blue saw this short film and told Eagle to make a feature. Eagle did, he made THE WHOLE SHOOTIN' MATCH. James Blue has helped establish the American Film Institution and he edited FILM COMMENT for its first three years. This film is in some weird way a a testament to Blue's support for Texas filmmakers. He didn't encourage its making. He encouraged the filmmaker. Good for him.
What is this film? It's a seminal film in the American Independent film movement. But more than that, it's the first feature by someone I knew and tussled with (love would be too specific a word), someone who held their nerve and did not make genre films even when the money was good. I think he knew that he knew enough not to sign up with the wannabes and careerists. So he made this...
