would santa sangre count? its bad ass. otherwise those argentos that others already mentioned…suspiria, deep red, (and i dont think opera gets enough play with argento fans)
i dont know about the scariest, but the best recent horror movie with a spooky atmoshpere was orphanage…even though the plot was fairly used it was excellently done.
disturbing….yeah, salo takes it. only time i have not finished a film because it was upsetting. I needed to watch duck soup just to get it out of my system.
indiana jones and the kingdom of the whatever it was. x10…god awefull. it did honestly feel like the character of indy was getting raped on screen. i walked out but not nearly soon enough
some other people named some pretty good flicks on this forum. not of my absolute favs but some pretty good ones (die hard, maholland dr., doors, fight club) it was intresting to see.
I know its strange…but cannibal holocauset. The music is excellent, and completely unexpected, coupled with the way the camera floats above the tree line…..I could tell immediatley that it was going to be a much better film than what I was expecting.
This is actually Roger Eberts idea, not mine. (but I agree)
Baraka.
It can be enjoyed and understood by people of all languages and cultures. it speaks to the human condition. There is no way to include a film from every country otherwise.
wow i am an dumb sometimes, talked about the movie in an earlier post, but didnt mention it. here was how it was supposed to go…
BARAKA!

the scene in Brand upon the brain! where the orphans have to stomp the father’s casket into the wet earth….dont know what it means, but verry powerful imagry
end of la dolce vita when he does not recognise the girl from the resturant
watching mr. freedom right now. 20 mins into so far and pretty good. i hope there is some more violence. cant stop thinking about comedian (from watchmen) when I see him
I will change the question to adress the first thing that popped into my head. The question i will be awnsering is what is the worst directors cut. My answer: cinema paradisio. I liked the original film because it left you with in mystery and desire to want to know what happened to the boy’s true love. I found it much for fufilling and romantic to not know and not to see the characters come together again. great film though.
smiles of a summer night might be a good one to start with. It was actually one of the last ones I watched. It is much more lighthearted than cries and whispers, but still has that eye for human behavior that is the reason his work resonates so well for so many of us.
I am looking for job in Atlanta, GA or somewhere nearby. Does anybody have any ideas of places to apply or where to look? I am hoping for something film or art related. I am a college graduate (studied Communications, Psychology, and Art History). I am extreamly smart and hard working. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanksies
