Oh nice one – Blood Meridan by Peckinpah. I’d be so excited about that one that i’d probaby induce hibernation and be awoken at the time of it’s release.
I’ve had my ideas on Delillo’s “Underground” being done by Cassavetes. I’m really dreading the HBO adaptation of Richard Ford’s triology so I comfort myself with the idea of an american master being done by an american master and not some drab adjustment-adaptation to lure the counter-culture.
May have been out in places around the world prior to 2009 but Erik Poppes “DeUsynlige” was absolute bliss, never ever felt so bad after leaving a screening. I’m looking forward to owning that on dvd and feeling bad in the privacy of my own home.
I have to say that the useage of music in Gummo is oh-so-good! One of my favorite scenes ever is when the boys (the cat-killers) are rolling down the hill on their bikes, Sleep blaring out in the background, and the sun is setting the scene. Poetry in motion if there ever was any.
So i’d say that his films are worth seeing merely for his talent of mixing, putting together a full scape of both sound and image. It’s very visual.
If when my wife is sleeping
and the baby and Kathleen
are sleeping
and the sun is a flame-white disc
in silken mists
above shining trees,—
if I in my north room
dance naked, grotesquely
before my mirror
waving my shirt round my head
and singing softly to myself:
“I am lonely, lonely.
I was born to be lonely,
I am best so!”
If I admire my arms, my face,
my shoulders, flanks, buttocks
against the yellow drawn shades,—
Who shall say I am not
the happy genius of my household?
Erik Poppes “DeUsynlige” (troubled water) made me feel so awful about life that I had a crisis of faith for a full week after my first screening. So great
This is a very post but if anyone anyone anyone has a link, copy, whatever of the parkinson episode with mr fry and mr robin william then please tell me. It almost made me soil myself last time I saw it so please

I think “Cat on a hot tin roof” deals with the subject of Alcohol abuse in a very good way.
