The Grey

The incredible, breathtaking and visceral plane crash sequence sets up perfectly well what you're in store for. After having gone through that, you desperately want them to survive. It makes me want to check out his earlier films as well as to re-evaluate The A-Team, which what I thought was unbearable.

I haven't been on here in ages. I think Pina for me will be my last visit to Lightbox this year. I think you already saw it at TIFF, right? I'll probably catch that sometime before the end of the year. I did end up watching Into the Abyss, Melancholia and Le havre there. Also went on Monday to see Jan Kadar's Lies My Father Told Me. Did you hear about the complete Bresson retrospective coming in February? Can't wait for that! Happy Holidays to you! :)

Hey, how's it going? I haven't been on here in ages... Did you end up getting a Lightbox membership? :P Despite me advocating it to you, I haven't made very good use of mine at all this fall season -- other than using it to buy tickets for TIFF! Things just became crazy and now I'm severely film-deprived. How about you? Any other Lightbox (or other) film screenings since TIFF?

If so, that definitely did the trick then! I actually found that almost all of the theatres were a bit chilly... Or maybe it's just me? Isabel Bader that day was the coldest though for sure. :P I was there for The Turin Horse! That was very depressing... But wait, I'm confused... Which film are you talking about? Saw that you watched Play as well. I watched it yesterday and was impressed -- interesting framing and social observation.

Hey! I know eh? What's up with Isabel Bader. I definitely became restless for the second half because of the intense coldness. How was your conversation with Akerman after the screening? Oh, by the way, they're releasing the fall program on September 21st. There's going to be some Hitchcock and in terms of new releases, von Trier's Melancholia and Kaurismaki's Le havre is definitely coming soon to Lightbox, it appears. Still can't believe you recognized me in line! :)
