About Me

A consuming film buff since I first turned on the tube and/or went to movie theatre on my own during summer vacations from grammar school. Worked in an art house movie theatre growing up in Dallas the latter 1960’s….. I’ve had two VHS collections, two DVD collections, and am now shifting over to more a Criterion based. Tarkovsky, Malick, Kubrick, Kurosawa, Scorsese, Lang, HItchcock, noir, weird, and left of center remain some of my favorites. My appreciation extends to all aspects and mediums. The need to make a visually stunning statement in our culture stirs an endless creative spirit only to be exceeded by the consuming audience ability to view anything. Period.

Make Way for Tomorrow

For a film from pre-WW II to have such a definitive voice about the lack of grace and dignity in the latter years of aging in a modern America this film rings true today. This obvious celluloid fuel became fodder for the Ozu - Tokyo Story masterpiece and is so frumpy one can't believe a knock out tear drainer is charging down the line. Be ready to be saddened to the lowest rungs with cinematic panache and style.
