I love Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding. Other than that movie, I’m pretty ignorant of Indian cinema.

There was an adaptation made of Camus’ The Stranger? There’s probably a good reason why I’ve never heard of it.

Movies That Should Be In the Criterion Collection about 3 years ago

I agree with Mr. Swindoll. Claude Chabrol’s Les Bonnes Femmes would make a great addition to the collection.

Animated Films on Criterion about 3 years ago

Hedgehog in the Fog, which is “considered one of the best animated films of all time.” There are a few other worthy Soviet cartoons out there that I can’t recall their names at the moment.

Diary films, diaries in films. about 3 years ago

Maybe Henry and June. It’s based on the book by famous diarist Anais Nin, but I don’t recall if she narrates the film as a diary.

Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire, which isn’t composed like a typical novel, rather, the story is told in a poem with extensive end notes.

A lot of good films already mentioned. One contemporary director that I’m particularly impressed by is David Gordon Green. I highly recommend Undertow for those who haven’t seen it.
