Hey man. How's it going. KG's been sticking it to me again lately lol. I deleted like 3 torrents I had seeding and my ratio dropped from like .729 to like .530. I didn't expect such a dramatic slip. Does that ever happen to you?

Hey, I've been meaning to check out Swanberg's work. I know at least one other member here whose opinions I respect that also think very highly of it. But your comments have certainly piqued my interest further. Is 'The Zone' a good one to start one? If so, is it out on DVD? // That's high praise for 'One from the Heart', especially given Coppola's filmography. But I'm not very good with his '80s work in general, so I can't really disagree with you. I'll keep an eye out for it. // Glad to know that you too feel so strongly about 'Anzukko'. Considering how many great films Naruse made during the '50s, it's almost a little unfair to a relatively low-profile film such as this. And there are many others like it, as I hope you'll discover when you see more of Naruse's work. Yeah, that's a fairly typical final shot for Naruse; unlike most films you see, including great ones, his films generally don't come to any sort of a cathartic resolution, perhaps to the dissatisfaction of many critics over the years. For Naruse's characters, life simply goes on in all its mundanity. Good point about the balancing of the themes. Even the negative side-effects of this particular father-daughter relationship aren't highlighted or spelled out as they would've been in a lesser movie. Naruse did something similar earlier in 'Sound of the Mountain', which also featured Yamamura Sô. Yeah, I too liked Kagawa here. This is the most prominent role she ever played for Naruse, who mostly went with Takamine during the '50s and '60s as you're probably aware. Looking forward to your thoughts and comments on any other Naruse films you end up watching. // Also glad that you liked 'Flight'. For me, it was among the more pleasant surprises of the year. I hope you get to see 'Silver Linings Playbook'. Russell somehow manages to keep it from becoming too emotional or too hysterical, which is quite a feat. // Good luck with your film projects. // Take care. Arsaib
Thanks, Manny. What have you been watching lately?
