You could say I have a weird sense of humour, but this film cracks me up. The cheap blue casket for his dead wife. The pen-pal letters for the african charity. Just watching Jack Nicholson spin around a bathroom - I couldn't help laughing. This is one of those films that will go down in history as a hidden gem.

This is exactly what I look for in a film...takes you to places you can't ever reach in real life. I haven't read the book, but Cronenberg does an amazing job on the color and tone throughout the film.

The first time I saw this film, it was 3 am and I was 13 years old, and it has stayed with me ever since. It's not a perfect movie, but the mood Fincher sets is unmatchable. Part horror story, part Nietzche philosophical debate, it is nothing if not memorable.

This movie, to me, is what documentary film should be all about. Malle offered a complete picture of one town at two certain points in time - without commenting on what he was witnessing.
