Hello, new here. Seems like a nice place. I’m 48.
I live in Puerto Rico. There are no real arthouses here so DVDs are the main source of interesting films.
I used to work as a film editor but I’ve been switching to screenwriting…
Some favorite filmmakers-
Kubrick
Peckinpah
Russell
Roeg
Watkins
Cronenberg
Kitano
Ruiz
Jodorowsky
Cox
Leone
…
Sorry for the duplication.
Thanks to all who dropped by to say hello.
PS-
I forgot:
Hitchcock
Eisenstein
Lang
Carpenter
Kurosawa
Powell
… The list is long.
Seen parts of it on cable years ago. The print/tape they were using was in terrible shape so I hope this version will do it justice.
PS
The novel is great- short and intense. True noir.
Kubrick -
“Anyone who has ever been privileged to direct a film also knows that, although it can be like trying to write ‘War and Peace’ in a bumper car in an amusement park, when you finally get it right, there are not many joys in life that can equal the feeling.”

That movie needs to be trimmed by about 30-40 minutes. It gets boring…

Martin may be his greatest film. It is such an American (as opposed to Hollywood) film that it feels foreign. Still amazing after all this years.
