Even if it were all fictional, this would still be a beautiful movie. But this is a documentary about the first beings from our planet to walk on the moon. Think about how historic that is for a moment. If you still can't grasp the scale of this human achievement then watch the film. I guarantee that you'll have a new appreciation of 'the giant leap for mankind.'
A period piece that features Handel's suite no. 4 in D minor (perhaps the greatest piece of music known to man) and directed by Kubrick. What more could you want?
This story is the perfect vehicle for allowing a writer-director to play with mise en abyme. All of the directors in this play do a brilliant job : ) Fantastic.
Please DO NOT shut off your critical mind for this film. It is visually stunning and you might need several viewings to get beyond that aspect of the movie. But Malick has presented some incredibly important questions for his audience. Find them and think about them. Not a simple task, but a rewarding one.
So what I'm going to do is play with the idea of a play within a play...
What exactly is sooo controversial about this? Trite and overbearing, so no thanks.
Boring, cliché and overrated. And I would not say the cinematography was all that impressive. I would go more into detail with what I did not like in this film, but there are just too many negatives for me to list. That said, Clive Owen is the lone bright spot in this. Good effort Clive.
