CINEMA 21: WONG KAR-WAI

Here are some Deep Thoughts :

Whenever I go to a party I laugh and laugh, everytime somebody says something, in case its supposed to be funny.

My aunt Martha said that once she kissed the ring of the bishop. “Thats nothing,” I said. “Once I kissed the ass of a millionaire.” Sometimes Martha thinks she’s so smart.

One day one of my little nephews came up to me and asked me if the equator was a real line that went around the earth, or just an imaginary one. I had to laugh. Laugh and laugh. Because I didn’t know, and I thought that by laughing he would forget what he asked me.

The Sting of Death

The second most powerful Japanese film I've seen (Shindo's Naked Island is my bread and butter). I'm absolutely enthralled by Kohei Oguri.

I'm pretty early in Skyward Sword. I'm enjoying the dungeons but the story's a bit hard to take. Demon's Souls is fun, but I keep running into walls and taking long breaks from it so I'm getting through slowly. Xenogears is one of my favorite games of all time. It has a great story, fun but middling gameplay. A word of warning though, the encounter rate can be pretty high and the platforming elements can make some dungeons annoying. I enjoy fighting games but I don't play them much.

Right now I'm playing Demon's Souls and Zelda: Skyward Sword, but there's a torrent of games I want coming out February through April. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, Tales of Graces, Mass Effect 3 and Xenoblade. (I tend to mostly like action/adventure, platformers and RPGs). How about you?

I'd recommend everything you can see from Uchida, but especially "Fugitive from the Past" and "Souls in the Moonlight." "Earth" is interesting, too, but the available print is in terrible condition.* Oh, and psshaw... I've barely seen anything from Japan... Don't look up to me. Though, I will admit Japan is an overwhelmingly vast nation for cinema...
