About Me

American in London.

I like horses and movies and philosophy and computers. Probably in that order. :-)

Latest Update

Original

François Truffaut

I've been watching on Cinemoi as well! Although I've only caught Stolen Kisses and Antoine & Colette thus far. Jules and Jim is my favourite movie of all time. I wish there was more info here about Truffaut' later work, though, which I also think is excellent. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for "L'Argent de poche" (Pocket Money) in 1977! See: http://www.newwavefilm.com/french-new-wave-encyclopedia/francois-truffaut.shtml It's so sad that he died so young - I think of all of the new wave directors he was the one who best combined intellectual ideas with strong emotion and character.

Adieu Philippine

I was expecting more from this film, but it was still a great ride.

It’s chaotic, it’s fun, it’s sophomoric. On the one hand, some of the visuals are beautiful and perfectly pitched: some of…  read review
