No one could've pinned down Sweet Movie better than you! That's the problem with any film with heavy and graphic footage. Because a film shocks and disgusts you and is different, it's some how validated as art and makes people feel smarter than they really are. I have no problems with graphic imagery, but when you're beat over the head with old political ideals disguised by this imagery, I can't stand it! Maybe you might agree with me or not, but it's the exact same problem I had with Salo.
