Just wondering, but why 3 stars for Melancholia (2011)?

    Triers directorial efforts work in the first half, but really don't work for the 2nd where it needs to be a tightly wound pot boiler. I do think the first sequence is the best thing he's ever shot. and also 3 stars is not bad.

    I guess what i really mean is that the second bit needed to have more tension, and I don't think trier can do tension justice. the impending doom never really feels like a threat, so the ending comes off as nothing more than "a fucked up" ending.
