Gabrielle: Also check out the stop motion that condry does. Its good stuff. The film will be in the animation style of the animals in Life Aquatic. Hopefully it will beat out pixar in awards for animated film.
Margot at the Wedding- I was very disappointed of Noah Baumbach especially because before Margot at the Wedding, he made Squid and the Whale, which I thought was brilliant. The choice of putting Jack Black in the film was astounding to me because, well, its Jack Black. He shouldn’t be put in films that are beyond his acting capacity since the only things he can do are fart and try to be funny. This film angered me in many ways, although the most bearable was Kidman. Hopefully Baumbach will be able to redeem himself with Greenberg, which will be coming in 2010.
Rachel Getting Married: I thought this script was taken off of Margot at the Wedding (but thats just my opinion.) I thought that the role Anne Hathaway played was a bit out of her league. The way Jonathan Demme shot it, he tried to make the picture more “dramatic”. The story also lacks cohesion. What was uncear in the film was alot of the sup-plots and the messages they tried to get across, for example: the connection between Rachel and her soon to be Husband.
-when your world is in technicolor.
-when you “look closer”.
-when you wish you could sell New York Herald Tribune on the Champs Ellysses instead of your normal day job.
What I fucking hate is when someone says that they are a Goddard fan, and when you ask them which of his films they like, they say, “Breathless.” I understand that this is an amazing film but, I just hate this because it is HIS MOST WELL KNOWN FILM. And usually when they say this, they have never heard of his also amazing, lesser-known work.
I love it in Pierrot Le Fou when Pierrot is on the boat and he has the huge piece of cheese and he’s just eating it. I just loved that for some reason.
