Fight Club. Most Godard films (with the exception of My life to Live – his only really good movie!). I like Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson, as well as Terry Gilliam, but I find their groupies, more specifically the passion of their groupies in proclaiming anything with their names on it as brilliant, the most profoundly obnoxious group of film fans in our modern world. Add to that those who still proclaim that Godard, with very few exceptions, is or ever was relevent.
I put off seeing Dreyer’s Gertrud for a long time and was blown away when I finally watched. An extraordinarily good film. And I’ll cheat a little bit with Hitchcock and say that Frenzy is my favorite Hitchcock film (Family Plot was pretty good but it is a bit of a wimper). Kieslowski’s Red is another great one!
