That Night's Wife

What's the title got to do with the price of fish? It sounds like the film should be about a carefree bachelor's latest one-night stand. Is it just a poor translation? What does その夜の妻 actually mean? Wouldn't something like HIS WIFE THAT NIGHT have been a better title? You'd think that the BFI would've come up with something better for its DVD release.
