Saw this last night and absolutely loved it.
Extremely disappointing. Overlong, the individual stories are not interesting enough to warrant the runtime. The stories themselves weren't particularly new or interesting. Re: it's realism and brutality - it was dull. Trying to be gritty and real does not automatically warrant acclaim.
AWFUL. It's crushing to see such a great cast go to absolute waste. It's also crushing to see nearly every single joke in the first 3/4 of the film fail miserably. WHY WAS THIS MADE? WHY???
Hands down one of the greatest documentaries I have ever seen.
I am a sucker for teen coming-of-age movies and as such, I loved this movie. It just made me want to be living in 1987 with them, the way it was shot, the immaculate soundtrack, the immense attractiveness of Kristen Stewart, the vibe in general. I want to be in their world, and Greg Mottola is the one to thank for strengthening that desire.

Pretty good thriller - I'd give it a 3.5/5. Add to that pretty good adaptation. Great concept, cool twists, awesome score, some brilliant supporting roles. The thing is, I have just watched the British miniseries and I have to say that it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen on TV. Go out and watch it if you can - it is sublime.
Great movie - amazing cast w/ great supporting actors, loved the cinematography, as different and glaring as it sometimes was. The film's greatest success, I believe, was truly allowing me to feel as if I was in the 1930s, to absorb the viewer into the context. This is what the cinematography achieved, a heightened sense of realism.
Waiting for Godot + David Lynch + mise en abyme = S,NY
DRAMATIC IRONY - everything about this film is drenched in it. And it's fantastic!
Transformers 2 was like a turd put on screen. Then, they light it on fire, which is interesting for like a second. Then they keep lighting the turd again and again and you get really tired of seeing nothing but a flaming turd, at which point you realise that all you are watching is a piece of shit. http://filmvisuality.blogspot.com/2009/07/review-transformers-revenge-of-fallen.html
my favourite film. there we go. i absolutely adore this film; the acting, the pacing, the plot - THE PREMISE is probably the best for any movie ever, i mean, it pre-dated reality tv. jim carrey is at his best, and i believe ed harris plays one of the most memorable roles ever. but i think im really alone in my love for this movie so... just give it a shot, please?
this was a really enjoyable movie - great soundtrack, hilariously random plotting and an awesome deus ex machina. see it if you haven't - really worth it.
Really cool film - I loved the whole flowing concept of the story, just smoothly shifting focus through characters, and some of those characters were amazing haha.
best film about screenwriting!
i think im gonna need to watch this a second time...for all the praises it gets the film didnt quite hit me like i expected it would...
