Somehow, this seems poignantly appropriate. :D
GEEZ! This is the film. I immediately fell in love and then two days later after seeing it, Criterion releases the whole trilogy. Perfection.
Such a great piece of pre-code CHC. And Ann Dvorak's character? Where have you been all my life.
Long live the other in monster cinema! Go Freud!
One of the most imaginitive features I have ever seen.
What. The. DUUUUUUUUUMP
The zaniest, craziest, funniest thing I've seen in a while. The fat jokes were hysterical.
Flawless. Perfect acting. Jaw-dropping script. One of the most relevant movies to come along in a while. I'm floored.
Seriously, one of the best films I have ever seen. Miyazaki again crafts a vibrant fantasia that brings out the inner child and reminds us that magic resides in the heart of every person. Also, it's one of the most original love stories I've encountered. And what an amazing score! Gah, this man can do no wrong.
I think this might be my most favorite movie of all time.
Ray Harryhausen is God.
So freaking epic! Ah, I loved it.
Wow, wow, wow. One of the best duel scenes ever. And the lighting? Breathtaking. It just might be my favorite Kubrick film (and that's saying something because I regard 2001 very highly).
A perfect movie.
Wow! Really, really impressive! The visual effects and the 3D were top notch. And who can resist such a heartwarming story!
Incredibly beautiful artwork. This was when Disney kicked serious butt.
Beautiful cinematography! The opening shot = amazing.
Doris Day > Tippi Hedren and Grace Kelly
Yeeeeaahhh...it was ok...
Reminds me of what movies can say that other art forms cannot.
Amazing. One of the best I've ever seen!
An incredible book and movie. I underestimated it and soon found out it is bigger than me.
A landmark in TV history. Twilight Zone is righteous!
My childhood in 98 minutes.
The movie that started it all with me. I'm a cinephile who loves Spielberg, and I'm proud to say it. He blew my mind with this movie when I was very young, and its impact has never left me. There are so many incredible moments ("Shoot her!", "Ian FREEZE!", "JOHN!", "Clever girl", T. Rex emitting his signature cry while the banner falls over him.) 5 Stars!
Bawdy and absolutely hilarious.
Down right brilliant. Powerful and intimate. I swear, this is one of the best films I've ever seen.
Tennessee Williams is a playwright I have major issues with. His characters are too over-the-top; his symbolism is thick and heavy-handed (that's why high school English classes read his plays - they can be analyzed at a surface level); and his female characters fail at being lost because he tries too hard to make them lost (you wanna make a character lost in a dream world? Go for subtlety). Yet, Elia Kazan's film adaptation of Streetcar has proved itself worthy as a classic. Williams' extreme melodrama is still present, but the actors (namely Brando) give top-notch performances. Vivien Leigh plays a great Blanche even though her classic acting style clashes against Brando's visceral method acting. The film has made me sympathize greater with Blanche's character and disdain Stanley's brutish, animalistic cruelty. Excellent work.
A complete disappointment. A film with two unrelated plotlines each with no plot themselves. Guillermo del Toro is a visionary, but this movie lacks.
A brilliant case study of teenage frustration and the search for father figures. A tension underlies the film, one that is ripe with homoeroticism, emasculation, and the Electra complex. This films is one of the best psychological analyses of teenagers and their frustration that erupts in that awkward stage between childhood and adulthood.
I'm gonna watch this movie soon because my girlfriend gave me the Teshigahara Three Films box set for Christmas!!!
