While it makes an effort I couldn't connect with the film. Boring characters and no sense of style. It doesn't work as a horror film, doesn't work as a drama, nor an intellectual exercise when it attempts to be all three. Had potential but I say better luck next time.
As usual with Antonioni films, the craft is immaculate. The subject is still relevant. And Monica Vitti is riveting to watch.
Beautiful and haunting.
Fine but one of the most unworthy best picture winners of all-time.
This is the true best picture winner. Low-key but moving and inspiring unlike another best picture winner.
If this was a play it would read like a great tragedy. The best of the prequels with some emotional weight. Very underrated.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The best romantic comedy in years. And how can you not fall in love with Zooey Deschanel? I sure did...just don't tell my girlfriend. It reminded of past experiences that I look to today very fondly.
This is beyond a movie. I don't have the right word for it, but it's like touching heaven. And I approve a film that makes a statement on the environment and against war. The 3D of course solidifies the film's otherworldly experience.
I admire a film that does so much with so little. It's a slap in the face at big studio f/x horror films. And much scarier than Blair Witch, which it will wrongly be compared to. Scary in a "let your imagination go" kind of way.
The film I wish I could have made. Watching it is like committing a sin, so do your prayers afterwards. A masterpiece and I don't use that word lightly. Unwatchable to some, make sure you know what you're getting into.
To the North Americans it is definitely worth seeing the original uncut version of this film that appears in the new Special Edition. The uncut version, the one Europeans saw, adds more credibility to Bill's quest. Great film once you see the uncut,.
Please watch the original theatrical version. The so-called "version you've never seen" takes away a lot of the impact with silly scenes that were justly cut in the first place. A great film.
I usually don't like to write reviews for the simple fact that words can't really express what I feel, especially when I'm passionate about a film. But LET THE RIGHT ONE IN demands attention as the "intellectual" horror film that both pays tribute and transcends the genre.
The horror film that is as scary as it is tragic.
Kubrick's masterpiece of the senses. 40 years after its release it also remains relevant and suprisingly ageless for a sci-fi film.
I like to call it: the Mona Lisa of film. My all-time favorite, period.
In the world of high-minded cinephiles it is always frustrating to find more disregard for the horror genre. Yet, the horror genre can be the most creative form given the right vision. Suspiria is a great example of visual aesthetics and creative ingenuity coming together.
Argento's most artistically accomplished film. Style over substance? Perhaps, or maybe the style is the substance in the same degree that Antonioni or Leone expressed style as the message.
Egoyan's best film, still.
