I quite liked it, though the payoff after the build was too short lived. Uneven, you could say.
One of Miyazaki's best, which should tell you all you need to know. This film is incredibly well made, and absolutely enchanting.
Strangely, horrifically lovable.
It's a bad film, guys. It's a REALLY bad film.
It drags in the second half quite badly, but White Zombie has some truly great and unforgettable moments and images, and is still worth watching if you're into classic horror.
Amazing. James Whale had never disappointed me. Best part: learning the truth about Saul. Bloody classic.
Interesting, but strangely vacuous.
I liked it, but it wasn't Cronenburg's best.
I absolutely loved Firefly, but this movie could have been better...
Fun, but not Hitch's best by a long shot.
Horrifying. One of the most affecting movies I've ever witnessed.
I didn't know it was possible to do a shot by shot remake of a book. It was really good, but if you've read the book, there's nothing for you here, and vice versa. That being said, whatever version of the story you take in is really pretty terrific. Definitely recommended.
Not a kids movie, but a movie ABOUT children, it's interesting, but uneven and much MUCH darker than its trailers pretend it is. I liked it overall. Definitely worth a viewing.
While it doesn't ever reach the artistic heights Raimi has before achieved with this genre, Drag Me to Hell is still an awful a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out - if horror comedy is your cup of tea. If not, then there's really nothing for you here, and you should not be ashamed to skip over Drag Me to Hell. I, however, loved it. SO cool.
Flawed, but also so, so memorable. Spielberg's exploration of belief in things we know can't be true hits some strange notes along the way, but ultimately is a film well worth the place it's carved for itself in film history.
Such a cool film.
I loved it. Truly like nothing I'd ever seen and strangely enrapturing. A breath of fresh air if there ever was one, it's like some lost silent print seen through the eyes of a schizophrenic mariner set adrift in the middle of the ocean alone. It was fantastic, but not for everyone. Heartily recommended if you think you can 'get it', avoid at all costs if you can't. "Too much for Guy!"
Deeply, deeply disturbing, but also relentlessly fascinating indictment of the male gender. At moments beautiful, at others absolutely grotesque. While flawed, it was certainly unforgettable.
I enjoyed the film, but it was less focused than Haneke's stronger efforts (Cache, Funny Games), and suffered a little because of it. That being said, the film is definitely worth viewing once, and is very well done for what it is.
Love you, Billy.
Interesting.
Absolutely loved it. A better crafted, more damning film about the American media circus does not exist in this world. This is a great movie, chock full of iconic performances.
I generally liked it. Not really like any other movie I've seen. Worth a look, definitely. Not really a life changer, though.
It was really fantastic. Kurosawa is just a master of film, no debate about it.
The yuppies fucking had it coming. A very funny, dark satire done right: with no punches pulled.
I really liked it. While I'm not a huge fan of rotoscoping usually, it fit this movie to a t. Fascinating psychology behind it, too, but I've always been a sucker for dreams. Cool movie. Definitely worth a view.
I wish I could give it three and a half. While some segments in Haynes collection of short stories based (sort of) on or about Dylan were really cool and worthy, others were rather ho-hum. I still generally liked it as both a tribute and a unique film.
I liked it a lot, even if it's not a classic movie. It's an interesting, intelligent, low-key kind of sci-fi, which is a nice break from the noisy and flashy (albeit entertaining) modern sci-fi like Star Trek. Not superior necessarily, just different. Rockwell gives his all, too, which he is definitely to be commended for.
Disturbing, funny, harrowing, intense, ridiculous, incredible, scathing, important, inventive, and entertaining. But most importantly, District 9 is a good movie. Oh, and it has a great performance by its lead cast member. It's a pretty damn good movie.
Fantastic piece of filmmaking. Both thrilling, intense, and ultimately very affecting. It's a great film. The first one about the Iraqi Conflict that's a must-see. Great performances all around, too.
