@ Alex K: Thanks! I don’t really have much free time right now, but I’m still enjoying making these covers in my precious time off. This morning I started another one before work.
Here’s a box set for the John Crowley film Boy A (it was based on a novel by Jonathan Trigell). For those who haven’t seen the film, its about a man that gets out of prison for a crime he and a friend committed as a child and is told through a series of flashbacks. The idea for the box set covers is that Boy A is the movie and Boy B would be the supplements. I actually made about 8 different variants of these covers, and decided to post these two after burning my mind trying to make a decision; if I hadn’t, I’d probably still be trying to decide which ones to post.
I’m probably not going to be able to particpate in the challenge tonight. So in return, I’ll post two of the Son of Rambow covers that I’ve been working on. They’re still works in progress, but I’ve come to a stopping point with them at the moment. I really enjoyed doing them, the first one especially was a fun cover. Great movie, if you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. Josh, thanks for you kudos on the covers, you’re a spitting covers out like a machine, only if I had that kind of energy.
@Josh Ryan: Yeah, I scribbled those on there along with the title. I use an Intous 3 Wacom tablet and Adobe CS4 on a Macbook Pro. I tried to make it as child-like as possible. The problem is, in the movie, he was such a good artist, so his drawings had a lot of detail and creativity in them but were still very child-like in nature. I tried to capture that with the scribbles, tried to draw them in a manner he would have.

@DAVID: Damn, you stole my next movie! I was just about to do a cover for that. I was flipping through my dvd case to find Leolo to do a cover for it, but I left it back in the states….I’m still kicking myself in the butt for it cause I want to watch it now. I had stumbled across the 71 Fragments dvd in there and thought “it’d be cool to do a cover for this movie if that bastard David doesn’t steal your idea.” Anyway, cool cover man. I didn’t know that was the full title, my dvd just says 71 Fragments on it :\
Sorry I missed Sunday’s challenge, been real, real busy. I had made up 5 covers that aren’t really done, but I might post them later tonight or tomorrow. I have to look at them again to see how much more work they need when I’m not so bat-shit tired :/
However, here is another cover that I just finished:
Here is my contribution to the anime being done. This one is a Rumiko Takahashi box set. It includes Mermaid’s Scar, Urusei Yatsura, and Ranma 1/2. Takahashi is by far my favorite manga writer/artist, and I still watch the anime based on her series’ to this day. Inu Yasha didn’t make this box set, sorry.
Here is the cover I originally did for the “movies that take place in the jungle” Sunday challenge that took place a couple of weeks ago. I never finished them or posted any of them. I’ve been extremely busy, but here is the Lord of the Flies repack (crying Ralphie) cover that came out of the group that I did for that challenge. I repacked the case for both the original and new Criterion logo (I like the old logo btw). Also, I redid the 71 Fragments cover.

@ CINESNAG: Thanks! I can see how it would have that effect, ha ha.
@ ADAM COOK: Thanks, I had a lot of fun making it. The cinematography in that movie is just mind blowing.
