Why are some gays always trying to accuse everyone of being closet gays? Perez Hilton is constantly doing this. Many gays ramble on and on about how Hugh Jackman is gay, without providing any evidence at all, other than the fact that he can sing, dance and show some sensitivity in his acting. I call that wishful thinking on the part of the gays.
As private Bell climbs up the grass hill alone in “The Thin Red Line,” toward the Japanese bunker and possible death, he has mental flashes of his woman back home. This scene struck me as deeply true and profoundly human.
The dolly-in shot on the young prostitutes in Bangkok in “Baraka.” Later, the camera focuses inflinchingly on one young girl, who stares right back at the 65mm camera. There can be nothing more true than that. Heartbreaking.
The reason that most people don’t like this film is that most people are very stupid. The Fountain was a box office failure, and Transformers 2 rakes in $300 million in a matter of days. That right there shows you, clearly, the stupidity of the general public.
Many intelligent people love The Fountain.
The Fountain is one of my favorite all-time films.
I’d say that Zimmer’s “Journey to the Line” and Mansell’s “Death is the Road to Awe” are probably my current favorites. I would rank these pieces up there with work from Beethoven, Wagner, etc.
Some of John Williams’ stuff is very high-caliber, and several pieces from Horner on the Braveheart score are incredibly beautiful to listen to with your eyes closed. Of course, that was before Horner really started recycling his own compositions.

To me, avatars bring a lot more personality and community to a forum. Whom do we PM or email about this?

“The Fountain” is as much an Existentialist film as it is Buddhist.
To call it New Age is the most superficial analysis possible.

You do not need anamorphic lenses to shoot 2.40. You can crop spherical, of course.
Besides cost, weight, and depth of field issues, spherical lenses like Master Primes are a lot faster than most of Panny’s anamorphics.

Harry Potter Franchise the Only Series of Films to Get Progressively Better? almost 3 years ago
I stopped watching HP with the last film. The only thing that could get me interested now would be Emma disrobing.
Bond franchise kind of goes up and down.
There are tons of examples of 2nd films being better — T2, Ghost in the Shell, Empire, LOTR — but usually the third one takes a dip.
